Dimensions of Role:

This project will be implemented with an integration of Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) and Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) in the East region targeting  4931 Children de 6 to 23 months (BSFP) , Children de 6 to 59 months and 7,365 PLW (Pregnant and lactating Women) Lagdo and Guider in the North ,Gazawa,Maroua1,2 and 3,” and  Tokombere in far North for  6 months project’s duration .

Typical Responsibilities - Key End Results of Position:

The Nutrition Assistant will among many other tasks perform the following:

1/Reinforce project’s activities through outreach activities using community relays and womens group to ;

Community mobilization

Sensitizations

Continuous Screening

Educative talk on Nutrition and hygiene and ENA

Cooking demonstrations

Distribution of nutritional products

Referal of MAS to relevant structures

Monitoring of ex MAS cases

Home visits to verify the preparation, storage and use of nutritional products.

Verify cases of non respondent to the treatment

General monitoring of project activities

Liaise with the District Supervisor ,Project Coordinator to ensure the quality and federation of nutrition actions within the districts;

Ensure that the Community Animators have a well mastery of the anthropometric measurements and equipped   to screen malnutrition

 Ensure proper and effective Distribution of Foodstuffs to patients

Oversee the post-distribution processes and prepare the next distribution

Collects and consolidates reports for chief relays

Organize regular jointed meeting with stakeholders to be able to exchange vital information on the project.

2/ Reinforce capacity of existing community relays in his/her zone of intervention

3/Involve as much as possible the representative of the Ministry of health in all projects activities.

5/Create good collaboration channel with all stockholders.

6/Reinforce the link between  MAS, MAM and BSF programs.

7/Ensure the appropriation of the project through capacity enhancement of local dialogue  structures.

Dealing with Problems:

The holder of the position has no authorization and will liaise with PU’s finance and Administrative department for all related finance and administrative procedures under the leadership of the Regional Coordinator.  But his proactveness will be key in planning and implementation of activities in the field.

Communications and Working Relationships:

The Nutritionist Assistant should maintain a good collaboration and communication with technical and financial partners (WFP, UNHCR) at field level also with local authorities, DMOs, Chief of health’s structures and local nutrition focal points.

Knowledge, Skills, Behaviors, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:

State Register Nurse or related courses

At least one (1) year of experience in working for a reputable international humanitarian and development organization.

Minimum of one (1) year work experience

Experience of working with institutional donors/fundraisers

Experience of working in zones where security issues is a concern

Experience in the management of a nutrition project

Experience in motorbike driving

Physical Environment and Demands:

Ability to work under pressure and in remote area and in zones were security issues is a concern

Level of Contact with Children:

High level:        Frequent interaction with children
