Below is a press release signed by the Minister, Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic

The Minister, Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, hereby informs the public that the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya, has just ordered a special recruitment of two thousand (2,000) PhD/Doctorat holders as lecturers in Cameroon's State universities. This recruitment, which is open to graduates resident in Cameroon and abroad, will be conducted over a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 2019 financial year.

One thousand (1,000) lectures will be recruited in 2019, five hundred (500) in 2020 and five hundred (500) in 2021. The decision by the Head of State seeks to provide a concrete solution to the pressing need for teaching staff in State universities, especially following the creation in recent years of several new institutions.

It is guided by his abiding concern for the growth of higher education, and falls in line with his resolve to keep his promises to the Cameroonian youth at home and abroad. Specific directives have been issued to the Prime Minister, Head of Government, and the Minister of Higher Education on the principles, terms and conditions governing the implementation of this presidential decision.
